Qualifications: 

Candidates should possess a minimum of a BS degree in an EHS-related field preferred, and be OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certified.  Must be safety oriented, strictly adhering to/enforcing applicable safe work practices, regulations, policies and procedures.  Should have basic proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office products (CAD experience a plus). 

This individual must be able to:

  • Manage/direct multiple contractors concurrently and make key tactical decisions in real time.
  • Effectively balance concurrent demands of clients, contractors, regulators, and other key stakeholders.
  • Understand and work with applicable USEPA and OSHA regulations, with exposure to RCRA, NYSDEC, and NYSDOT regulations.
  • Communicate clearly and frequently with project team members and management, as project demands dictate.
  • Wear appropriate levels of personal protective equipment (PPE) based on site-specific conditions.
  • Travel and work extended hours, when needed.

A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.

Sanborn Head is seeking a qualified and motivated environmental engineer with 3-10 years experience to join our Poughkeepsie, NY area office.  As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to grow your technical and communication skills and help provide clients with strategic advice that they value.

As an engineer you will support a wide-range of environmental projects, potentially including: 

  • Industrial Facility Decontamination, Decommissioning, & Demolition;
  • RCRA Facility/Permit Closures;
  • Hazardous Materials/Waste Management;
  • Environmental Construction; and
  • Contaminated Property Investigation & Remediation.

The engineer would support these types of projects by performing a variety of construction oversight and environmental field services such as:

  • Contractor oversight and management;
  • Construction quality assurance services;
  • Field sampling and data collection;
  • Completion of associated paperwork (e.g., daily worksheets, equipment inspections and health and safety forms, etc.) and support for preparation of technical reports; and

Support spill response and safety incident reporting.
