Boston Properties, a real estate investment trust, is one of the largest owners, managers, and developers of first-class properties in the United States.

To help meet their regulatory needs and assist in design of foundation and earth retention systems, Sanborn Head provided geotechnical and environmental services during the due diligence, permitting, design, and construction phases of the 6-story, 200,000 square foot office building and an adjacent 7-story parking garage, with three levels below grade at 77 City Point, Waltham, MA.  The project re-developed an underutilized parcel with an industrial past along the Route 128 corridor to a Class A office building with a LEED C/S Gold rating.  Sanborn Head worked with the project team to assess and remediate Massachusetts Contingency Plan releases, design the support of major soil and rock cuts, including the use of high capacity rock anchors to support over-turning  and seismic loads for a 40-foot tall garage concrete retaining wall; and, design a permanent dewatering system for the garage.  We also monitored several adjacent vibration sensitive buildings during blasting.
