In an effort to create a more continuous, year-round level of economic activity to complement the seasonal use of Gillette Stadium, the Kraft family decided to enhance the land adjacent to the Stadium by constructing more than 1.3 million square feet of mixed-use development now known as Patriot Place located in Foxboro, MA.

Sanborn Head was initially engaged to assist with the permitting of the wastewater requirements associated with the development including participation in the successful MEPA permitting process and approval, and to address historical fill issues related to the former use of the property as a horse racing track.  Sanborn Head was subsequently retained to provide geotechnical design services, construction monitoring on behalf of the owner and due diligence services during the financing of the project.  It was a complex, challenging, fast-paced project with numerous interim deadlines and challenging site constraints.  In particular, Sanborn Head’s strategy to re-use more than 200,000 cubic yards of historical soil fill waste materials to support building foundations and site areas - drove significant savings in site development costs and waste disposal costs.
