Omya Inc., a global manufacturer of calcium carbonate, plans to reduce its energy costs at its Verpol Plant in Florence, VT by switching its primary fuel from oil to liquefied natural gas (LNG).

As part of the conversion, Omya selected Sanborn Head to lead the design of a $10 million, 120,000 gallon LNG storage facility to be constructed at the Verpol Plant.  When constructed by the summer of 2013, this facility will be the first of its kind in Vermont.  In addition to reducing the energy costs of the plant, Omya plans to incorporate a vehicle fueling station at the LNG storage facility for its ore trucks, which will further reduce energy costs as well as reduce vehicle emissions.  Omya selected Sanborn Head based on our 8-year working relationship and the strength of our project team, which includes LNG facility design and fire protection experts.
