Charlie Head, PE, PG

Charlie is a co-founder of Sanborn Head.  He serves as the Chair of the company’s board of directors and oversees the implementation of the firm’s strategic plan.

Charlie oversees initiatives related to the expansion of the firm’s services and markets, but currently in a part-time role.  Charlie received his bachelor’s degree in geology from St. Lawrence University, a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of New Hampshire, and a master’s degree in civil and groundwater engineering from Colorado State University.

For Charlie, the real thrill of working at Sanborn Head is the creative problem solving and collaboration that fosters deep relationships—among staff and with clients. In his current role, Charlie enjoys focusing on the growth and sustainability of the company and helping to create opportunities for the next generation, including development of the next generation of leaders.

Charlie has served on the Board of Directors for Granite United Way and on the Board of Trustees of the Concord Community Music School. He is the past President of the Geoprofessional Business Association and emeritus member for the University of New Hampshire’s Department of Civil Engineering Advisory Board. Charlie is a 2017 graduate of Leadership New Hampshire.

Charlie is an avid hiker and long-distance walker; he has summited Mt. Kilimanjaro twice and climbed all of the 4,000-foot peaks in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Charlie also enjoys playing guitar and performing with his wife Lindy and in their Celtic band Cara.

Charlie is a Professional Engineer in Arkansas, Georgia, Iowa, New Hampshire, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia; he is a Professional Geologist in New Hampshire.
