Derek is an experienced engineer with a technical focus on the permitting, design, and construction of solid waste facilities.

Derek is skilled at applying experience gained from testing and observing in the field to the management of his projects. He likes focusing on the details of a project but excels at bringing together the disciplines of civil, geotechnical, and solid waste engineering to help his clients move their projects forward.

Derek enjoys working with colleagues who are passionate about their work and are committed to delivering a quality work product in an efficient and timely manner. Derek also appreciates that Sanborn Head’s size is big enough to have the resources to support growth while still maintaining a small company feel where everyone is invested in each other’s success.

Derek is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire where he earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a minor in business administration. He is a member of ASCE and the Southern New England chapter of SWANA.

Outside of work, Derek likes to be active in the outdoors by hiking, skiing, or playing golf. He also enjoys visiting breweries and learning about the brewing process.
