Charles ‘Chip’ Crocetti, PhD., PG of Sanborn, Head & Associates, Inc. (Sanborn Head) has been awarded the Stephen G. Lewis Merit Award for Service to the Environmental Industry presented by the Environmental Business Council (EBC) of New England “in recognition of meritorious service, leadership and dedication to improving the quality of the environment and to the development of the environmental-energy industry in New England.” Chip was nominated for this prestigious award based on his lifetime accomplishments and substantial contributions to the environmental consulting industry over his career. He was presented this award at the EBC’s EBEE Awards event held at the Westin Copley Place Hotel in Boston on June 8, 2023.
Chip has been on the forefront of emerging environmental issues throughout his 38 years as a practicing hydrogeologist and geochemist in the field of environmental consulting. His wide-reaching contributions have improved not only human health and the environment, but also the many generations of professionals who have benefited from his steady guidance and leadership. He is a nationally recognized expert in hydrogeology, geochemistry, contaminant fate and transport, and environmental forensics, and he has helped navigate over a dozen Superfund sites in the Northeast through the regulatory system over his career.
Chip has served a broad range of clients and has consistently contributed to the advancement of the environmental consulting profession in New England, as well as nationally. As one of the four founding members of Sanborn, Head & Associates, Chip has demonstrated incredible patience, enthusiasm, and talent for mentoring staff of all levels. With colleagues, clients, and stakeholders alike, Chip builds respect and consensus with a focus on technically rigorous and ethically sound approaches, and the ability to describe complex issues in simple terms. Chip has served as primary client contact for one of Sanborn Head’s longest standing client relationships: the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES), and he has actively participated in numerous professional organizations, including the EBC.
