The Waste Management facility in Rochester, NH provides comprehensive solid waste management services for the State of New Hampshire. In order to continue its mission of providing environmentally protective waste disposal, Sanborn Head assisted WMNH with the design and permitting of the TLR-III South Area, which will extend the service capabilities of the facility for 10 years.
Key Components:
- Solid Waste Design & Permitting
- Hydrogeologic Studies
- Stormwater Management Design
- Landfill Gas Management Design
- Leachate Management Design
- Local Site Plan Permitting
Permitting a new state-of-the-practice waste disposal facility can be challenging considering environmental regulations and land development constraints. Sanborn Head’s solid waste design and permit team worked closely with WMNH to prepare comprehensive permit and design documents for the local, state, and federal regulators that meet or exceed the environmental standards.
To prepare the TLR-III South Area design and permit documents, numerous engineering, hydrogeologic, and other site studies were performed to characterize the site conditions. The resulting design requires a multi-year series of construction projects that will allow WMNH to continue to provide un-interrupted service to its customers and the host community. The project also involved establishing nearby conservation land providing, in total, over 80 acres of protected land along approximately 1.2 miles of river.
