Sanborn Head is pleased to announce that Shawn Kelley, Ph.D., P.E. has joined the firm’s Developer Client Service Area as a Project Director in its Burlington, Vermont office. Dr. Kelley is a professional engineer with 20 years of geotechnical engineering experience on a wide range of development projects.
“We are happy to have Shawn onboard,” said Patricia Pinto, P.E., LSP, Senior Vice President and leader of the Developer Client Service Area. “He is an accomplished engineer and we are excited that he will be assisting us with serving our clients.”
Dr. Kelley’s specialties include geotechnical engineering design, geotechnical instrumentation, and geotechnical soil testing. His expertise and contributions to his field earned him Vermont’s Civil Engineer of the Year Award by the Vermont Section of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) in 2016, and Engineer of the Year by the State of Vermont in 2017.
Dr. Kelley is active in the Vermont section of the ASCE, having served as the section’s president, among other offices; he has been actively involved with the Vermont chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies, and he is a member of the Vermont Society of Engineers. On a regional level, Dr. Kelley served as ASCE Region 1 Governor representing Civil Engineers from New England, New York, New Jersey, and Puerto Rico. Currently he is serving as a member on the ASCE national Leadership Training Committee, a group that develops training programs for leaders within the organization across the U.S.
In 2012, Dr. Kelley was recognized as an Outstanding Junior Alumni by the University of Massachusetts-Amherst’s College of Engineering. Dr. Kelley holds a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in civil engineering from UMass, and is a registered Professional Engineer in Vermont.
